Since 2011, a team of volunteers have been working hard to restore the bunker.

The restoration of the Barnton bunker is a massive undertaking that involves a team of dedicated volunteers working tirelessly to bring this historic site back to life. Since 2011, Barnton Bunker has seen a team of volunteers working hard to restore the bunker to its original 1952 configuration, with the aim of creating a museum and education centre to preserve this unique piece of Cold War history.

The restoration project involves a range of tasks, from clearing debris and repairing damage caused by vandalism to restoring the bunker's original fixtures and fittings. As part of the restoration process, the volunteers have also been working hard to ensure that the bunker is safe for visitors. This has involved removing hazardous materials, reinforcing the structure, and installing new lighting and ventilation systems.
