Welcome to the official events hub for Barnton Bunker. While our guided tours are expertly run by our partners at The Bunker Experience Ltd, this page is dedicated to the special events organised directly by the charity and volunteers behind the bunker's restoration.
These are one-of-a-kind opportunities to engage with the site's unique atmosphere. From our popular Doors Open Days and community celebrations like our garden launch, to unique cultural happenings, every event offers a different way to descend into history.
Every ticket you purchase for these events or donation made directly funds the preservation and restoration of this incredible site. You are not just attending an event you are actively helping us save a vital piece of Scotland's history for future generations.

Haunted Bunker Maze
This Halloween, Scottish legends collide with creatures from myth and folklore as Greyfriar’s Bobby and William Wallace face The HAGGIS. A forgotten ritual known as “The Feast” has awakened a dark army with only one thing on its mind: hunger. Expect an immersive haunted experience with live characters, atmospheric storytelling and a darker side of Scottish legend at Barnton Bunker.
Child-friendly tours run at 6:30pm and 7:00pm, focusing on atmosphere and storytelling rather than scares. The adult experience begins from 7:30pm, with darker scenes, frightening characters and a more intense Halloween atmosphere.
Basic Power Tools Induction
Join our Basic Power Tools Induction at Barnton Bunker, Edinburgh. This relaxed two-hour hands-on session introduces beginners to safe, confident use of common power tools, including drills, impact drivers, fixings, measuring, marking and basic cutting techniques.
Winding Walk 2026 – Guided Nature & Town Walk
Winding Walk 2026 is a volunteer-led guided nature and town walk starting and ending at Barnton Bunker. Choose between a 6.5-mile or 8-mile route and explore forest, river, beach and village landscapes, with poetry readings and stamp-card checkpoints along the way. Saturday 10 October 2026, check-in from 10:30am, departure at 11:05am. £10 per person.
Doors Open Day 2026 @ Barnton Bunker
Step inside Barnton Bunker for Doors Open Day 2026 and explore the above-ground WWII RAF Fighter Command Operations Base, restoration project and wider site. Enjoy volunteer-led walk-throughs, short film screenings, the community garden, goats, family activities and more.
Free timed entry runs every 30 minutes from 11:00am to 4:30pm on 26 & 27 September 2026. Donations are welcome to support the ongoing restoration of Barnton Bunker.

Explore the historic WWII complex, take part in poppy making, and experience “The Memory Field”, an immersive art meditation on love, memory, and loss. Join us for Winding Walk — a town and nature appreciation walk through the forests of Corstorphine Hill and West Edinburgh. Enjoy live poetry readings at five checkpoints, collect stamps along the way, and take in the beauty of nature at your own pace.
