Join us at the historic Barnton Bunker for a special edition of October Climate Bites, hosted by Edinburgh Communities Climate Action Network (ECCAN). This free community networking lunch invites local groups, volunteers, and individuals passionate about climate action to come together in a truly unique venue.

Barnton Bunker, a relic of WW2 and the Cold War, is now being restored by dedicated volunteers and used as a community space. Alongside lunch, participants will explore the site, learn about local environmental initiatives, and connect with others working towards a sustainable Edinburgh.

Itinerary

Arrival & Check-in

Arrive shortly before 12:30pm at the pedestrian gate of Barnton Bunker (address below). Volunteers will guide you to the lunch space.

Climate Bites Networking Lunch (12:30–1:30pm)

  • Enjoy a delicious free lunch by Tummies Not Trash

  • Meet fellow attendees interested in local climate action

  • Explore Barnton Bunker and learn about its restoration and environmental projects

  • Discover opportunities to collaborate with ECCAN and community partners

Check-in details

Please arrive a few minutes before 12:30pm. Volunteers will welcome you at the pedestrian gate and direct you inside.

What to bring

  • Comfortable footwear (some areas around the bunker are uneven)

  • A notebook or business cards if you’d like to share contact details for networking

  • Curiosity and ideas for local climate action!

Special requirements-p;

  • The site is a historic monument under active restoration; please follow volunteer guidance at all times.

  • No dogs are allowed on site, except service animals.

  • Children are welcome but must be supervised by an accompanying adult.

Restrictions

The terrain is uneven and may not be suitable for visitors with limited mobility or those who have difficulty walking on unpaved surfaces.

The site is not currently wheelchair accessible.

We advise that the tour may not be suitable for most pushchairs or prams.
