Join us for Winding Walk – a town and nature appreciation walk hosted by Barnton Bunker.
This all-ages event takes you through the beautiful forests of Corstorphine Hill and West Edinburgh, combining outdoor exploration with the magic of live poetry. It’s not a race – but you can take it at your own pace, whether that’s a family stroll or a spirited run!
At check-in, you’ll receive your stamp card to collect at five checkpoints along the way. Each stop will feature live readings from the works of Robert Frost, Emily Dickinson, and other poets, celebrating the themes of nature and wildlife.
Two routes are available:
6.5 miles (~2.5 hours)
8 miles (~3 hours)
The event begins at 10am and ends by 6pm, with plenty of time for families, friends, and communities to enjoy the walk together.

Itinerary
Arrival & Check-in (from 9:30am)
Check in at Barnton Quarry R4 ROTOR Complex, 35 Clermiston Rd N, Edinburgh EH4 7BN. Collect your stamp card and join your group.
Winding Walk (10am start)
Choose your route and begin your walk. Collect stamps and enjoy live poetry at each checkpoint.
Completion & Community Gathering (by 6pm)
Finish at the meeting point and celebrate completing your route!

Check-in details
Please arrive at our pedestrian gate 5-10 minutes before your booked tour time. The gate is located on the trail as you approach our address. Have your digital or printed ticket ready to be checked in by one of our volunteers, who will then gather your tour group.
What to bring

Special requirements
All visitors under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times.
The site is a historic monument under active restoration. For your safety, please stay with your guide and do not enter any restricted areas.
No dogs are allowed on site, with the exception of service animals.
Restrictions
The terrain is uneven and may not be suitable for visitors with limited mobility or those who have difficulty walking on unpaved surfaces.
The site is not currently wheelchair accessible.
We advise that the tour may not be suitable for most pushchairs or prams.
