A forgotten ritual known only as “The Feast” has awakened something ancient beneath Edinburgh. Led by the mysterious Haggis, a supernatural army is hungry.

Now Scotland's most unlikely heroes, William Wallace and Greyfriar's Bobby, must face the darkness as Scottish folklore, history and horror collide.

Will Bobby, Wallace and mankind survive? Or is it already... too late?

A Different Kind of Halloween Maze

This isn't quite your traditional haunted house. While there are scares to be had, this year's experience places characters, atmosphere and storytelling at the heart of the adventure. Drawing inspiration from Scottish folklore, the maze brings together unusual characters, atmospheric scenes and an original story that unfolds as visitors make their way through the experience. And with Greyfriar's Bobby and William Wallace facing a supernatural Haggis, there's plenty of room for a little unexpected humour among the darker moments.

Everything has been imagined and brought to life by a passionate group of local and international volunteers. From handcrafted sets and props made using salvaged and repurposed materials, to creative lighting, sound and live performances, the experience is the result of months of imagination, resourcefulness and hard work.

It's very much a labour of love. Rather than trying to recreate a large-scale commercial horror attraction, our volunteers have created something with its own personality: an atmospheric, sometimes unsettling, occasionally ridiculous journey through a world inspired by Scottish mythology. The historic surroundings of Barnton Bunker provide a naturally eerie backdrop, allowing the handmade scenes and characters to become part of the setting.

Choose Your Experience

Child-Friendly

Our 6:30pm and 7:00pm tours offer a gentler introduction to The Feast, with the emphasis on atmosphere, characters and storytelling rather than outright scares.

These earlier sessions are designed for families with younger children and visitors who would prefer a less frightening Halloween experience.

Adult Experience

From 7:30pm onwards, the story takes a darker turn. Expect unsettling characters, atmospheric scenes, suspense and jump scares from live scare actors as you make your way through the maze.

Unlike a traditional haunted house focused primarily on scares, these later sessions blend frightening encounters with storytelling, Scottish folklore and moments of dark humour.

Guests aged 5–13 may attend at the discretion of their accompanying adult. Please consider whether the darker scenes and jump scares are suitable for the child in your care. Children under 5 cannot attend Adult Experience sessions.

No Haunted Maze on Monday 26 October. All visitors under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

Please note: This Halloween experience takes place at surface level within the former WWII RAF Fighter Command Operations complex. Although the historic surroundings form an important part of the experience, the subterranean bunker is not accessed during this event. Visitors wishing to explore the underground bunker can book one of our separate professional bunker tours.

Before You Enter

Arrival You'll be met at the bunker gate before being led into the Halloween experience. Please arrive 5–10 minutes before your booked time and have your ticket ready.

Tour Times Tours run every 30 minutes from 6:30pm. Child-friendly sessions take place at 6:30pm and 7:00pm. The Adult Experience begins at 7:30pm and includes additional scares and darker scenes.

Footwear Barnton Bunker has uneven ground and outdoor areas. Sturdy, comfortable footwear is strongly recommended.

Weather Parts of the experience involve outdoor areas, so please dress appropriately for the Edinburgh weather.

Accessibility The site is a historic monument under active restoration. Due to uneven terrain, the experience is not currently wheelchair accessible.

Under 18s All visitors under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Children aged 5–13 may attend the later sessions at their accompanying adult's discretion. Please consider whether the frightening characters, suspense and jump scares are suitable. Under 5s are only permitted on child-friendly sessions.

Monday 26 October There is no Haunted Bunker Maze on Monday 26 October 2026.

Volunteer-Led Charity Fundraiser This experience has been created and brought to life by volunteers from Barnton Bunker Preservation Society SCIO. Funds raised will support the development of our new Barnton Bunker Visitor Centre, helping us preserve and share this important part of Edinburgh's history.
